My New Year's resolution for 2008 . . . to GO GREEN: now, while I'll admit to being a huge Boston Celtics fan at heart, what I mean is that I want to do more this year to become environmentally educated and conscious of my impact on the world around me.
Of course, even though my "go green" answer seemed to appease family and friends on Jan 1st, the coach in me was quietly chuckling away because I know full well that "going green" neither defines where I'm headed, gives me any actions to take, nor offers any concrete, actionable goals. And, the truth of the matter, I really don't know what that phrase means to me today.
I know that there are things here and there that I could do better. I know what some of the alternatives are. I know some of the problems facing the environment. But I'd have to admit, it's a weak body of knowledge and ideas at this point.
I figure that I'm not alone in sitting just at the fringes of environmentally educated, wanting to make changes, but not knowing exactly what to do, when or how. So, if this is you too, join me throughout this year as I sort through what's out there, discover ways to change, and figure out how to fit all of this into the lifestyle of this average and busy American family.
