See this pile of putridness? It represents about 6 months of me running and my children growing. What am I to do with this mess of fabric and rubber that is now ripe with foot odor and useless to anyone?
I reserve my latest pair to wear in the garden or play outside with the kids. But, that still leaves this pile and it seems such a waste to toss them in the trash.
Thanks to the Nike Grind program, we don't have to throw these shoes out any longer. Nike has locations in their stores throughout the US where they accept worn out athletic shoes (If you can't find a drop-off location near you, you can also mail your shoes in.). The shoes are then ground up and reused as athletic surfaces and even parts of their consumer products.
